A Routine

I thought I'd post about a beauty regime of mine if anyone is at all interested. My daily routine of makeup is pretty basic but one thing I do each month is head to Miss Fox to get my eyebrows threaded and eyelashes tinted. I first discovered Miss Fox after trying out a few other places which offered the same services but just didn't impress. One very popular, well regarded spa in Fitzroy waxed my eyebrows different lengths... not surprisingly I didn't head back!

Miss Fox had been on my radar after reading posts from Lady Melbourne and the fabulous things they do to her nails, so I thought I'd try them out. I started out having my eyebrows waxed until one of the beauticians suggested I try threading for a smoother result and supposedly threading is better for fairer hair. I did and I'm hooked!

I had no clue about it before I went along, I wont lie it does hurt a bit and is quite a bizarre feeling, but threading does result in a smoother finish than waxing and the hair grows back slower.

The girls at Miss Fox are super lovely and the lady (I should totally know her name) who does the threading is the best! I highly recommend going there, if not for eyebrow threading then go to the nail bar!

Dr.Denim

I bought my first pair of Dr. Denim jeans a couple of weeks ago (after being a loyal Cheap Monday wearer) and have pretty much worn them every chance since. Instead of the usual black or blue denim I choose maroon. I wasn't sure if I would love the colour but I have found they have fitted into my wardrobe perfectly.

I'm a big fan of high rise jeans, as a teenage I wore low rise but eeek I cannot imagine wearing them again, and love that the style has moved to higher waistlines. I hope to add more colours to my wardrobe as winter draws closer.

Sydney

I completely forgot to post these photos from my weekend in Sydney a few weeks back visiting Chris while he is there for work. I spent the Friday afternoon in Surry Hills catching up with a friend and wandering the streets. Most of the photos are from there, with a few others thrown in. I miss Sydney!

(see the guy well his legs, climbing through the window!)

(I like this photo, I think Chris is confused by his empty glass hehe!)

Cardboard love.

Hello readers look at my new bedside table, pretty spiffy hey? My friend Sarah aka Le Bibi made it out of cardboard, just cardboard and glue. She has made lots of cool stuff if you want to see here. Not only is it lovely and practical, it's super tough if you wanted to know!

Stitch Your Journey.

I received this great Stitch Your Journey Tea towel by TMOD for my birthday and I couldn't help but share it with you! It's such a cool idea, I am a lover of tea towels and to make them interactive with the stitching suits me fine. I'm yet to hang it and start stitching (I can't use it and get it dirty) I'm not sure if I'm going to stitch where I've been or where I dream of going.. but I will update with photos once I start.

I had not heard of TMOD but it looks like a fun gift buying website with jewellery, cute stationary and loads more.

If you know of an other fancy tea towels out there please let me know!

Two Week Photo Project

I have to admit, I have been super slack with participating in the flickr Two Week Photo Project, I have missed about a months worth I think..oops! But I'm back on the wagon for this fortnights theme, On my way home. I'm lucky to live in a neighborhood which is full of old meets new, beautiful old buildings and new modern apartment blocks and houses which I find very photogenic. I wandered about this morning and this is what I saw.

If you use Instagram you might like to follow me my name is allthelovelies, I'll follow you back!

To those who have followed this blog for a while you would have noticed I took some time off blogging, I hit a block where I was unhappy with how and what I was blogging, and me not being happy I figured why would anyone else be happy with it either! So I took some time to think about how I want to blog, what I want to blog, and how I see my presence in the blogging community continuing. Anyway long story short, I have some new ideas and I'm grateful to those who stuck around and I hope you enjoy All the Lovelies again...

Interview - Abi from Vanilla & Lace.

~Hey Abi, how long have you been designing and making clothes for Vanilla & Lace?

I quit my day job July 2011 and officially opened my shop September 2011.

~Did you study clothing design at University (or equivelent)?

I haven't! At least, not yet. I'd love to get some official schooling in the field at some point in my life!

~What or who inspires your designs?

As a whole, I am completely inspired by fashion from the 1950's and 60's. I often lose myself for hours researching the patterns and textures and shapes of that era. I'm also often inspired by art.. Black apple is a huge inspiration in my designs. She has such whimsical gals in simply yet stunning clothing.

~Do you have a favorite piece you sell?

Although i'm a huge sucker for collars (especially the peter pan variety), my favorite dress right now is the Lydia. The open back is dreamy.

~ Who is your favourite designer?

Rachel Antonoff, definitely! Huge inspiration as well.

~Tell me a bit about where you live?

I live in the pacific northwest, where it rains more often than it doesn't but I don't mind that part and it makes for gorgeous surroundings. Portland is a very artistic and inspiring place.

~Is Vanilla & Lace your full time job?

Yes, it is!

~Any secret clothing stores or designers in your home town you could spill the beans on?

Sarah seven is from portland and makes the most gorgeous wedding dresses you could imagine. I dream of being her some day!

~Vintage or New?

Vintage.. but only the good pieces!

~What's your favourite food?

Sweets! But i also love burritos.

~Have you travelled much and which is your favorite city to shop?

I have traveled a whole lot, especially lately. Paris is definitely at the top of the list but San Francisco is also wonderful!

Thank you to Abi for this weeks interview I am such a huge fan of her dresses, you may remember this outfit post featuring the Float Away dress. I am also very keen on the above top aswell, such a pretty pattern.
